Rex was born on May 21, 1925, to Dudley and Addie Moorhead, at the Moorhead Homestead.
He attended school at the Moorhead School. He used to joke and say, “In the door and out the window” School was not a priority for him.
He worked on the home place then for Cecil Stockdale, before he bought the place in 1955.

This is where they began their married life.
The following summer Rex began building a log cabin on the property.
The place was 20 miles from Maple Creek. They farmed and raised cattle. In those days the land was farmed with horses.

They raised their three children on the place. The family all had jobs to do to keep the place going.
They had cattle, including milk cows, each of which had a name, horses, pigs, chickens, dogs and cats.
For many years the cattle were fed using a team of horses and a wagon or sleigh, depending on the time of year.
Rex and Alma enjoyed visiting with neighbours, friends and relatives. Years ago their weekly outing was going to town on Saturday, to buy groceries, visit with the people, and go to the occasional show at the old theatre.
