BURTON – Marlene Burton of Maple Creek, passed away on Saturday, August 12, 2017 at the age of 78, beloved wife of the late Allan (Sots) Burton.
She leaves behind to cherish her 3 sons, Wayne (Susan) of Maple Creek, Garry (Shona) of Regina, Jeff (Kyndra) of Medicine Hat, and 7 grandchildren, Trent and Jenna, Brooke and Lisa, Taylor, Tanner and Heather, along with 2 great grandchildren, Sadie and Archer, and numerous nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind one sister, Donna and one brother, Keith as well as life long friend Vera Gold and family.
Marlene was predeceased by her parents Milton and Vida, and sisters Norma, Diane, and Lois.
Marlene was born June 17, 1939 in Vantage, Saskatchewan. She moved to Maple Creek at a young age to become a telephone operator, and this is where she met the love of her life, Sots Burton. She quickly became a mom of 3 boys. Marlene had a love for children and enjoyed many, many years of babysitting that created lifetime friendships with many of her ‘kids’. She was an amazing grandmother who had a unique and special bond with each one of grandchildren. She also enjoyed attending many types of sporting events and local events such as rodeos, parades, plays and of course her favourite, Cowboy Poetry. She will be missed by all who had the honour of being a part of her life.
The funeral service will be held at the Assembly of God on Wednesday, August 16, 2017 at 2 p.m.
