Police investigate fatality near Maple Creek

A lone occupant has died after they were involved in a vehicle roll-over in the morning hours of July 29.
The occupant has not been named, but police can confirm there was a single vehicle roll-over resulting in the fatality.
“It happened just outside of Maple Creek, and things are still under investigation,” said Sgt. John Phipps, Maple Creek Detachment Commander. “We are not at liberty to release the name at this time.”
He said at this time, neither alcohol or drugs appear to be a factor.
“We have collected evidence from the scene and it is being reviewed. A collision analyst was brought in from Swift Current,” he said.
Phipps says the incident likely happened between 12 and 4 a.m. Sunday night, and that it happened well before it was reported.
The investigation is ongoing.
