Parsonage adds another crown to his bull-riding resume

Posted on December 2, 2021 by Maple Creek

He is the 2021 Canadian Bull Riding Champion, the 2021 Canadian All-Around Champion, the Canadian Finals Rodeo Average Champion, and the winner of the Guy Weadick Award at the 2021 Calgary Stampede.
Now Maple Creek’s Jared Parsonage can add the Maple Leaf Circuits Finals Average crown to his impressive feats this year.
The finals are an integral part of Saskatchewan’s Canadian Western Agribition in Regina, which celebrated 50 years and brought the 2021 rodeo calendar year to a close, while ushering in the 2022 Canadian Professional Rodeo season.
Parsonage, 28, produced a four-for-four performance in the November 23-27 event.
In round 1 he scored 84 points, tying for second with Griffin Smeltzer, of Claresholm. He followed up with a winning 84.5-point ride in round 2, and a four-place finish in round 4, when he scored 78 points.
On aggregate, Parsonage took first place with 325.5 points, earning $1,953.41. The next three spots were taken by Smeltzer (253.5), Tanner Eno (249), and Edgar Durazo (247.5).
The Maple Leaf Circuit champion was 21-year-old Smeltzer, who rode three of his four bulls, earning a circuit season total of $13,115.
It was a welcome end to an up-and-down season for Smeltzer, who had elbow surgery in late October just nine days before the Canadian Finals Rodeo.
On the strength of their performances, Parsonage and Smeltzer will be heading to Colorado to represent Canada next summer.
