After an extraordinary 44-year career dedicated to strengthening and advancing the credit union system, Glen Goddard has announced his retirement, effective Saturday, February 28.

For Glen, the credit union movement was more than a career, it was part of his family’s identity. With both his mother and brother having long and respected careers in the system, cooperative values are truly in his blood. That foundation shaped a lifetime of service, leadership, and commitment to members and communities.

Glen’s credit union journey began in 1979, when he joined Prince Alberta Credit Union as a teller at the La Range branch.

Although that first experience was short-lived – lasting only a couple of months before he returned home – it sparked a connection to the system that would become his life’s work.

In 1982, Glen re-entered the system as a manager trainee at the Mossbank branch of Assiniboia Credit Union, officially beginning the career that would span more than four decades. Over the years, he contributed his leadership and expertise at several credit unions, including Melfort Credit Union, Yorkton Credit Union, and Hazlet Credit Union,. In 1989, Glen joined the contract management team, taking on leadership roles in Gainsborough Credit Union, Coronach Credit Union and Kyle Credit Union. He was also present for the formation of Prairie Centre Credit Union, contributing to the collaborative effort that formed the first regional credit union in Saskatchewan.

Glen’s longest and most defining chapter began in 1995, when he moved to Maple Creek to become the CEO of Cypress Credit Union. For the next 30 years, Glen led the organization with integrity, vision, and deep commitment – growing the business, championing rural prosperity, and supporting the communities Cypress served with pride.

Most recently, throughout 2024 and 2025, Glen played an instrumental role in the formation of Prosperity Credit Union. His leadership and system experience were pivotal in bringing partners together and guiding the transition. Since January 2025, he has served as Co-CEO, helping shape the early success of the new organization.

Across every position and every community, Glen has exemplified what makes the credit union movement unique: people helping people. His influence can be felt across the province, through the leaders he has mentored, the organizations he has strengthened, and the countless members whose lives were improved by his dedication.

As Glen steps into retirement, we extend our deepest gratitude for his service and his lifelong commitment to cooperative principles. We wish him every happiness as he begins this well-earned next chapter.

Please join us in congratulating Glen on an exceptional career and celebrating all he has contributed to our credit union system.

  • Speaking at the February 25 Maple Creek Town Council meeting, Councillor Holly Gutfreund said she had attended Glen Goddard’s retirement ceremony at Prosperity Credit Union on Wednesday to congratulate him on his 44-year career.

“He has done a lot for the town and I also appreciate the credit union as a business. It has not only given me good service since I was raised here. but also really contributes to community service in this town.”
