The Maple Creek Southwest Advance Times and Maple Creek News are weekly newspapers. The Times is published every Tuesday and the News is published Thursdays. These publications are owned by Alta Newspaper Group Limited Partnership and serve southwest Saskatchewan, including the communities of Maple Creek, Eastend, Consul, Robsart, Fox Valley, Richmound, Golden Prairie, Liebenthal, Piapot, Tompkins and Gull Lake.
Besides the Maple Creek Southwest Advance Times and the Maple Creek News, this group includes one other community newspaper in Southwest Saskatchewan, The Shaunavon Standard as well as six community newspapers in Southern Alberta: The Taber Times, Sunny South News, 40-Mile County Commentator and Cypress Courier, Vauxhall Advance, Lethbridge Sun Times and the Westwind Weekly News; two daily newspapers, the Lethbridge Herald and the Medicine Hat News, and two specialty farm publications, the Prairie Post and the Prairie Post West.
The Maple Creek Southwest Advance Times was established in 1999. The Maple Creek News was established in 1902, with roots to the first newspaper in Maple Creek. Both the Times and the News have received provincial awards for excellence in news reporting.
Both papers have a paid circulation and are members of the Saskatchewan Weekly Newspaper Association and the Canadian Community Newspaper Association.
