Scholarship recipient

Posted on August 27, 2020 by Maple Creek

Abigail Scherger received a McConnell Scholarship. Abigail said the amount received was $6,500 for successfully completing the first-year of studies at a Canadian post-secondary institution in the nursing field. “I completed my first year of the Bachelor of Nursing program at Lethbridge College in April of 2020,” Abigail noted. According to the recipient, after the first year was over, Abigail chose to continue taking classes throughout the summer semester that contributed to the student’s second-year load. “I am now a third of the way done my second year and will be continuing on my education journey at the beginning of September.” Abigail continued post-secondary is a costly venture, so scholarships and bursaries can take a large amount of the financial pressures off. “After receiving confirmation I had been chosen as a recipient, I felt a huge weight come off my shoulders. It is incredibly kind and generous someone who does not know me personally is willing to help support my goals and dreams.” Abigail is from Maple Creek. “It is here where I discovered my love of healthcare, dance, reading, writing, and cooking. I have had a multitude of opportunities to explore so many different activities and interests in Maple Creek.” Abigail would like to acknowledge and extend thanks to James McConnell for his support, generosity, and kind heart.
