Last week the Fox Valley ball teams finally played against real opponents. On Monday, May 31, Maple Creek came to Fox Valley for a game against the bantam boys. They were all a little rusty to start, but warmed up and had a great game. Fox Valley won 7-4. Coach Mark Hudec said, “The kids enjoyed being able to play again.”
There were three games on Wednesday, June 2, one home, and two away. The parent-pitch team hosted Leader and won the game. In Leader, Fox Valley’s U12 girls defeated the home team. The T-ball team went to Richmound to play. It was a fun game and interesting because many of them are either playschool, Kindergarten, or Grade One classmates. Both teams were hitting well and hustling for the ball.
Another new little one came to town on May 11. Emerson Mae Bakanec was born to Brendan Bakanec and Nicole Fraser of Fox Valley. She weighed 7 lb. 14 oz. and measured 19” long. Proud grandparents are Kelly and Brenda Bakanec of Fox Valley, and Tom and Stacey Fraser of Hussar, Alberta.
The Fox Valley Rec Board made the draw for the June Trip of the Month on June 2. Winner of the Fly-In-Fishing is Jocelyn Coish. Stan Schneider won $120. The jackpot for Chase the Ace is now over $1,900, so get your tickets for the June 10 draw.
Thanks to the hard work of maintenance man, Jordan Koch, the swimming pool passed inspection on June 1 and opened on June 2 at 3.30. June hours are 3.30-5.30 pm and 6.30 to 9 pm. In July and August the afternoon hours will change to 1.30 to 4.30 pm. Due to COVID regulations, masks need to be worn until you enter the pool.
Maximum capacity is 45 swimmers with 6 in the small pool and 39 in the big pool. There are no spectators permitted at this time. Come in your swimsuit as change rooms will be closed. One shower will be available to rinse off, but no shampooing is allowed. There is a sign-up for the little pool only, with a Sunday night sign up for the week. Pool reservations are for 1 hour so be aware of how often you book, to ensure everyone gets a turn. If you leave the small pool to go in the big pool, you are not guaranteed your spot when you return.
When you are at the pool, if there are not 6 kids in the water, you do not need to sign up. Jump in. Frozen treats are available to be eaten outside the building.
If you have any questions please let the pool committee know.https://signup.com/go/LRwAQDv Life guards this year are Abbie Hoffart (manager), Noah Bosch, Olivia Hudec, Adam Hudec, and Kylan Wagner. Preschool lessons are being offered in June in order to alleviate lesson overload in the summer due to fewer life guards this year.
The first session of lessons begins June 7, runs 2 weeks, and costs $60. The second session begins June 14. For more information about rules and lessons see the Fox Valley Swimming Pool Facebook page.
