The school are so proud of you.”
The words of vice-principal Tyson Krause rang out around the gym at Maple Creek Composite School after the Rebelles’ regional basketball journey ended on Saturday.
The Rebelles – the school’s Magnificent Seven of Sierra Frey, twin sister Savannah, Kyeina Noval, Olivia Parsonage, Sage Portz, Jacey Martineau, and Taylor Smith – put on a battling display against the impressive Unity Warriors.
Home fans dared to dream at the half-way point, but Unity proved too strong in end, winning 58-41.
In Friday’s games, the Rebelles had looked almost unstoppable, beating Moosomin Marquis 61-41, while Unity overcame Kindersley Kobras. The tournament attracted big crowds for both days.
Krause thanked for those who had filled the gym with their cries of support. He also praised the volunteers who made the tournament possible, including the referees.
