Klein, Kenneth Leroy

KLEIN – Kenneth Leroy Klein was born Feb.5, 1938 in Maple Creek, SK. He was the youngest child of Jacob and Salma Klein. He has 6 sisters, Ann, Martha, Ida, Esther, Violet and Irene, as well as 4 brothers: Arthur, Emiel, Albert and Fred. Ken lived on the farm during his early years. His father passed away in 1947 when Ken was only 9 years old. Salma remained on the farm until 1952 when she moved to Piapot with the 2 youngest children Irene and Ken. Salma passed away on July 18, 1962.
Ken started work at Saynors garage and he worked there for about 20 years, starting out as a gopher and becoming a very good mechanic. He also started driving school bus in February of 1958 and continued doing that until February 1975. He did this while working at Saynors Garage as well as driving fuel truck. In 1963 Ken married Marie Goldie and they raised a family of 3 children- Mavis, Calvin & Karen.
In 1975 Ken and family moved to Flaxcomb where Ken worked for a farmer, Gorden Jamieson. In 1976 Ken and children moved back to Piapot where he took a job at the R.M of Piapot and he worked there for the next 40 years.
Ken is predeceased by his father Jacob in 1947, his mother Salma in 1962, brother Arthur in 1955, sister Ida in 1982, brother Emiel in 1985, brother Albert in 1991, brother Fred in 1998, sister Ester in 1999, sister Martha in 2010 and daughter in law Theresa in 2014.
Ken is survived by his daughter Mavis Shantz, her children Christina, Steven and Jamie, his son Calvin Klein, his step children Marisa and Luke, daughter Karen Klein, her children Kelsey and Keely, former wife Marie Klein, sister Ann, sister Violet, sister Irene, sister-in-law Alice Klein, great grandson Julyen Shantz. plus numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will be having a private interment at a later date.
