Stevens, Ivy

STEVENS – Ivy Stevens, one of five children born to Alf and Mary Bircham of Kealey Springs, passed away in Edmonton, March 23, 2014, at  age  87.

Ivy attended Teachers’ College in Moose Jaw, returning to teach at Merryflat and Caswell Schools.  In 1948 she married Art Stevens of Piapot. The couple moved to Edmonton where Ivy resumed teaching and Art commenced a long career in the oil industry. The marriage lasted over six decades and after Art’s retirement they camped, travelled, fished at Pigeon Lake and wintered in the Arizona sunshine.

Ivy, predeceased by her husband in 2012, is survived by their three children, Lorraine Etienne; and twins, Neil and Lyle; eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Also surviving is one brother, Ralph of Piapot and a sister, Shirley Martens of Spruce Grove, Alta.
