FREY – Sylvia Frey 1928 – 2018
Sylvia passed away in Maple Creek on Jan. 20, 2018 at the age of 89. She was the eldest daughter of Stella and William H. Berreth and sister to Bella and Lanny. She was raised in the Piapot area and went to school at Tosh, Cambrai, Northridge, Pitain and Carnagh. She married Alfred Frey on Nov. 2, 1948 in a double ceremony with Alfred’s sister Ester and Alfred Bauer. She worked hard on the farm and when she and Alfred retired into Maple Creek in 1977 she enjoyed working in her yard and garden. She was an excellent cook; homemade noodles with fried bread cubes and cottage cheese kuchen were always family favorites. She cooked at the Crossroads for many years. Although Sylvia was a home body she was always interested in her families activities.
She leaves to cherish her memory two sons Alvin (Loretta), and Melvin (Sheila). Six grandchildren Trevor (Moneec) their children Sierra and Savannah, Greg (Mhari), Shane (Nicki), Alicia and her son Brayden, Jonathon (Sara) children Hayley, Avery, Taylor and Keri (Matt) and their children Addison and Paxton. Sylvia is also survived by a sister Bella, brother in laws Art Frey and John Kiuper and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. She was predeceased by her husband Alfred, daughter Debbie, son in law John and sister Lanny.
The funeral service was held on Jan. 27, 2018 at the Maple Creek United Church. Pallbearers were Greg Frey, Shane Frey, Trevor Frey, Jonathon Coderre, Keri Miedzinski, Alicia Coderre and Brayden Rennie.
