Maple Creek Multiple 4-H Club held its Achievement Day at the rodeo grounds on Friday afternoon, behind the High Chaparral Arena.
Twenty-one children aged 6 to 17 took part, showcasing their projects and achievements in such areas as small engines, independent build (woodworking), baking, and event planning.
For the beef club there was extra intensity, with members being judged in multiple classes. See the results box on the right of this page.
The judge was Alvin Pawlitza.
Elaina Uribe’s solo business, Countryside Sweets, was there at the grounds with cotton candy and snow cones, which proved very popular on such a warm spring day.
She started her venture in 2022, and plans to be present at summer events like the Heritage Festival and Car Show.
“I’ve had lots of support from my family,” Elaina said.
Proof of this was the presence of elder sister, Sophia, who helped get her set up on Friday.
The Light Horse component of the day took place at Heather and Jason Jans’ ranch north of B&A, over the bridge on the west side. It was an opportunity for Jocelynn Jans and Amanda Uribe to demonstrate their riding skills, including bareback jumping and horsemanship. Jocelynn rode Raelee, while Amanda rode Fancy.
At the end of the day there was a supper and an award ceremony.
