An Ominous Sky
Posted on July 29, 2014 by Maple CreekLightning flashes from a shelf cloud looming near Consul on July 23. A severe storm hit the Consul, Frontier and Climax areas that evening, dropping hail as big as tennis balls that flattened crops. Winds were reported gusting up to 50 miles an hour at times, with over two inches of rain in some areas.
