Time to get active – $10K is at stake

Posted on February 25, 2021 by Maple Creek

Are you ready to get moving – and give Maple Creek a chance of winning $10,000 for its proposed new swimming pool?
Maple Creek has entered the Saskatchewan Blue Cross Go Out and Play Challenge, which requires people to be physically active. The community with the highest total active minutes will win the grand cash prize.
Maple Creek Pool Fundraising Committee has now appealed for people to join in the challenge.
To do so, they must go online to challenge.saskatchewaninmotion.ca to create a profile for themselves and their families by Monday, March 1. Then they need to log in their minutes of activity each day for 10 days from March 1-10. Each participant can allocate only their personal physical activity minutes, up to 120 minutes a day.
The winner will be announced on March 12.
Corrie Scott, chairperson of the pool fundraising committee, said she hoped there would be a community-wide effort to get active.
Activities, she said, could be anything from yard cleaning to walking or tobogganing in the Cypress Hills.
“It would be great to win,” she said. “The weather is getting milder, so hopefully it will encourage people to be active.”
The challenge requires that the Mayor or Chief in a community should sign a declaration form, stating that the community agrees to abide by the rules. The online registration also calls for a detailed description of a project, program or initiative that the community would take on to increase opportunity for children, youth and families to be active outdoors.
Prize money must go towards this goal.
