On April 17, 2021, members of the Maple Creek RCMP Detachment were on patrol when they noticed three super cars driving south of Maple Creek on Highway 21. Police caught up and checked the three vehicles, a Lamborghini. , a Ferrari and Aston Martin traveling at over 180 km / h in a 110 km / h zone. After talking to the drivers, the police handed over a total of $ 3,600 in fines and the three vehicles were impounded. Police then learned that one of the drivers had just pulled his vehicle out of the winter storage and had not properly registered it. Not something you often see in the prairies of Saskatchewan.
“These incidents could have resulted in something much more serious than the fines that were handed over. All of this was avoided thanks to the outstanding work of our officers from the Maple Creek Detachment and the Joint Traffic Safety Groups of Central and Maidstone. I would like to remind the public that with the arrival of warm temperatures, it is still as important to stay safe behind the wheel. Take the necessary steps to take out the necessary insurance, tie yourself up, put your cell phone away and stay tuned! Let’s all adopt healthy driving habits so that all of us – you, your loved ones and our police – can get home safely, ”said Superintendent Grant St. Germaine, Officer in Charge of Traffic Services.
