On Saturday, June 18, nine youngsters of St. Mary’s Parish gathered with their parents and grandparents to celebrate their first communion. Because of the covid regulations, not all of the traditions could be included, but it was still very meaningful. The nine were Nixon Dirk, son of Michael and Ashley Dirk; Kaelor Obritsch, son of Kolton and Cassandra Obritsch; Coy Schneider, son of Chris and Debbie Schneider; Hudson Glass, son of Troy and Renee Glass; Zarrah Hellman, daughter of Troy and the late April Hellman; Braeya Eresman, daughter of Brendan and Robyn Eresman; Maci Schneider, daughter of Brad and Lindsey Schneider; Tenley Checkley, daughter of Sean Checkley and Jenna Checkley; and Brielle Schneider, daughter of Scott and Brianne Schneider. Father Francis celebrated the mass. Renee Glass gave the first reading. Intentions were given by Braeya, Maci, Kaelor, Hudson, Tenley, and Brielle. The children received Eucharist, and were presented with gifts from Debbie Eresman on behalf of the church, and from catechism teacher, Robyn Eresman. Kaelor presented a gift to Robyn from the communicants.
In ball news, Fox Valley had a good week. The Bantam boys played Maple Creek twice. On Monday, Fox Valley won 23-10. Coach Hudec said they “prevailed once again due to the great depth we have in the bull pen as well as strong batting and wily base running.”
On June 16 they had a “successful game in Maple Creek thanks to strong pitching and steady batting.” Fox Valley won 17-10.
The U12 girls lost to their parents in the fun game on June 14. The T-ball team played against their parents as well. The parent pitch team played two different Leader teams, one at home, and one at Leader, winning both.
