The sky was gracious over the Fox Valley Kindergarten graduates on Thursday, June 24. After a half-inch of rain which fell between midnight and 1 pm, a patch of blue sky appeared over Fox Valley School just in time for the Kindergarten class to take their seats in the doorway of the school shop. The grade one students sat on either side. The grade ones were taking part because they did not get to perform in a grad ceremony last year due to the pandemic. Parents, siblings, and grandparents distanced themselves on the playground in front of them.
The ceremony began with the grads introducing themselves. Mrs. Hudec also said a few words about each one. They performed a number of songs for everyone as well. It was a lovely ceremony. The grads received a gift from Mrs. Hudec, and then their scrolls. Receiving diplomas from Principal Pat Wilde were: Danika Brilz, Emery Obritsch, Alana Ternes, Alix Koch, Isabelle Koch, Teyla Ternes, and Easton Brittner. Leaving the grads to go on to grade two are: Cambree Eresman, Youjia Zhoa, Aleiyah Bischoff, Jaxon Schafer, and Parker Schmaltz. There are thirteen new students coming to join the grads in the fall. Cupcakes and juice were served after the ceremony.
Ball season wound down with the U12 girls defeating Leader on Monday, and a wind up on Tuesday for the Bantam boys. The boys held sway against their parents in a slo-pitch game and won the game by a run or two. Treats were served up after, with a gift of appreciation to coach Mark Hudec. The match was enjoyed by all in spite of the heat.
Ron and Mary Ellen Buye are brand new grandparents after the birth of their grandson on June 17, on his mom Caitlin’s due date. Caitlin and Tyson Willman’s little boy, Reid Ridley, was 8 lb. 5 oz. and was 21 inches long. Reid and his mom and dad are currently living in Shaunavon where his other grandparents, Doug and Tammy Willman, live. They will also be living in Fox Valley from time to time.
Montana Schneider filled her mom Tena’s shoes on Thursday at the Chase the Ace draw at Sab’s Saloon II. She drew Sara Martin’s name for $217. Char pulled the jack of clubs from the deck, so the $2,553 jackpot will be rolled over and added to for the next draw on July 8th.  There are 42 cards left.
