Maple Creek will be represented at the Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM) Annual Conference and Tradeshow at the Edmonton Convention Centre between June 4 and 7.
Those pencilled in to attend are Michelle McKenzie, the mayor, and Councillors Betty Abbott, Tina Cresswell, Holly Gutfreund, and Mike Stork, who are entitled to get all expenses paid in accordance with the Town of Maple Creek policy.
Councillor Cresswell said FCM is one of the most productive and busy conferences.
According to the FCM website, more than 1,500 elected officials from coast to coast will be attending, making the event Canada’s largest pan-Canadian gathering of elected officials.
The program is seen as a good opportunity to network with peers, partners and federal representatives while providing attendees with the resources and insights to address and embrace new challenges. This year’s conference theme, Building a Future Together, highlights the role municipalities play in shaping Canada’s future.
As FCM marks 125 years of municipal leadership, the theme recognizes the pressures communities face and celebrates the strength, innovation and collaboration that unite municipalities across Canada.
