Household Hazardous Waste Day on Saturday, June 27

A household hazardous waste collection will take place on Saturday, June 27, in the parking lot next to the Royal Canadian Legion Hall at 218 Maple Street. It will run from 8am to 1pm.

This event provides residents with a safe way to dispose of household hazardous materials that should not be placed in regular garbage or taken to the landfill. Neighbouring municipalities – the RMs of Maple Creek, Big Stick and Piapot – and Nekaneet First Nation have been invited to take part.

A Public Works trailer will be on site collecting paint, which will then be delivered to SARCAN.

Barry Elliott, the Town of Maple Creek’s chief administrative officer, said this year’s event was much bigger than in previous years and he hoped people would take advantage.

“I very much hope we get a tremendous response,” he said at the May 26 Town Council meeting.
