No increase to base tax, mill rate factors, uniform mill rate

Three tax-related bylaws passed second and third readings at Town Council last week. First readings were held two weeks ago.

The base tax bylaw, mill rate factors, and uniform mill rate have now been adopted. Council agreed not to make any increases from last year. It means:

  • Base taxes on residential, commercial, and industrial properties will stay at $1,075;.
  • Mill rate factors will be 3.00 for agricultural property class; 0.62 for residential & multi residential; and 2.15 for commercial & industrial; and
  • The 2026 uniform mill rate for municipal property tax will be set at 13 mills.

Councillor Tina Cresswell said several citizens had told her they were thankful that Council acknowledged how economically tough these times were.

Councillor Betty Abbott thanked staff and Mayor and Council for the hard work that had gone into the budget and tax bylaws.
