He was born at Maple Creek, on October 15, 1948 and received his education at Consul. He married Darlene Behrman at Maple Creek on September 3, 1971.
Richard worked at various jobs including PFRA, Esso Bulk Station and then for the Department of Highways. He was a community volunteer and drove Zamboni for many years, served as a volunteer fireman and did work for Friends of Cypress Lake. He played ball with the Consul Cubs and hockey with the Consul Rockets and Consul Hosers. He liked golfing and was an avid Montreal Canadiens fan.
Richard enjoyed traveling to Habs games and travelling for his grandchildren’s sports.
He was predeceased by his father Wes, his sister Carol Palmer, brother-in-law Ralph Palmer and father-in-law William Behrman.
He is survived by his wife Darlene; daughter Nadine Rogal (Richard Duncan) of Maple Creek and grandchildren Tegan, Keenan, Paytan and Jeremy; daughter Kendra Rutledge (David) of Edmonton and grandchildren Trae and Kyra; his mother Kay Wilcox of Maple Creek; two brothers Merle Wilcox of Maple Creek and Leonard Wilcox (Debbie) of Medicine Hat; his mother-in-law Edna Behrman of Maple Creek, sisters-in-law Shirley Ann Wilson (Wayne) of Medicine Hat and Carol Kosloski (Glen) of Vanscoy, Saskatchewan and brother-in-law Bill Behrman (Connie) of Consul as well as by numerous nieces and nephews.
A reception in Richard’s memory will be held at Consul Rink on Thursday, July 17, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Dave Manley officiating. The eulogy will be presented by Stephen Behrman, Derek Behrman and Kyra Rutledge. Ushers are Danny Zilkie and David Zilkie. Honorary Pallbearers are all Richard’s family and friends. Cremation preceded the reception.
