OAKES – Ashley Sean Oakes ~ January 22, 1982-March 22, 2015
Ashley “Otawiskam Koka-ni-pawit” Standing in the Center of the Earth – center pole was born in Regina at the Pasqua Hospital on January 22, 1982 and left us suddenly on March 22, 2015 in Regina, Sask.
Ashley is survived by companion Lisa Quewezance, son Judas David Quewezance, his parents Glen and Elaine Oakes (Nekaneet), brothers Jordi (Lacey) Fourhorns, Marshal Oakes (Melinda) and sister Sonja (Ren), numerous aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
Ashley was predeceased by his paternal grandparents; Patrick Fourhorns (1993) and Alma (2013). His paternal grandmothers; Josephine Oakes (1995), Tona Oakes (2007), Mary Oakes (2005). Paternal grandfathers; Gordon Oakes (2002), John Oakes (2011), and a favorite cousin Mason (2014).
Ashley was educated at Payepot School, Lebret Residential School, and Maple Creek High School. Ashley was very gifted in academics, track and field, and basketball. He could have been anything he wanted to be.
Ashley spent many hours on the computer doing many things, downloading his music, movies and conversing with people from all over the world. One of his posts was, “If travel was free, you’d never see me again.”
Wake to take place Thursday, March 26, 2015 at 5 p.m. and Funeral Service will be held Friday, March 27, 2015 at the Piapot First Nations Hall, Regina, Sask.
