Kenneth James Sawby

SAWBY – Kenneth James Sawby (nickname – Kemo) passed away, suddenly at the age of 80 years at the Maple Creek Hospital. Ken was the loving husband of wife Pauline Sawby of Maple Creek.

Ken’s memory will be cherished by his children and their familes, daughter – Samantha Jacksteit (Quinton) of Maple Creek, SK; daughter, Renée Weimer (Todd) of Medicine Hat, AB; and son, Jason Sawby (Laura), still living on the farm in the Golden Prairie area. Five grandchildren: Logyn Jacksteit, Maverick Jacksteit, Sydney Weimer, Trey Weimer and Jaydon Skrumeda Sawby.

Ken is also survived by his brother Elwood (Amy) Sawby, sister Ellaine Hawrylak (Gordon), sister-in-law Barbara Elderkin, and by many nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

A private family interment was held at the Maple Creek Cemetery on Thursday, June 7, 2018 at 12:30 p.m. This was followed by a ‘Celebration of Life’ for Ken, followed by lunch and coffee. The eulogy was given by sister Ellaine Hawrylak. Pallbearers were Logyn Jacksteit, Maverick Jacksteit, Sydney Weimer, Trey Weimer, Edward Hammer, and Dale Elderkin. Jaydon Skrumeda Sawby led the casket and pallbearers, carrying a sheath of wheat harvested from the family farm.

Ken is going to be sadly missed by his wife Pauline and his family, by his many friends, and also by his dogs.

Special thanks to Dr. Anu Darko, the nurses and staff at the Maple Creek Hospital for the wonderful care Ken received during the last two weeks of his life. Thank you to friends, neighbours, and family for all the food, cards, flowers, donations, kind words and hugs during this difficult and sad time. God bless!
