Alison Blakley pushes the button to drench Redmond House owner Michael Morrow in cold water while he completes his “ice bucket challenge” at the dining establishment on Aug. 30. The ice bucket challenge is an activity involving dumping a bucket of ice water on someone’s head to promote awareness of ALS and encourage donations to research. After completing the challenge, participants nominate others to complete it and donate to the cause. Morrow took his challenge one step further, renting a balloon burst machine and inviting the community to come out and donate to break water balloons over his head. Seven-year-old Alison also had a lemonade stand, with proceeds going towards ALS research. In total, the event brought in over $300 for the cause.
